Okay, okay; so maybe I haven’t been the most reliable blog poster recently, but I have had at least 2-3 good reasons for it. What have been up to? And, most importantly, what have I been reading? Short answer: not a lot.
I posted on my Instagram that I had been very sick and unable to keep up with posting. The worst part about chronic illness is that, even when you’re seeing a doctor about it and getting help, the transition your body goes through will still wipe you out depending on the drugs they put you on. I’m pleased to say that not only am I on the path to healthier living, I’m also living a happier life. But getting here has really sucked.
In the middle of all this, I also moved. My old apartment would be well into the upper 70s or lower 80s in the summertime with the A/C running on full blast. As you can see from the image above, neither of us were happy about it. I had no idea how cranky we both were. As soon as I moved into my new place, I have my happy, contented, sweet cat back. It’s a smaller apartment, but the space is more manageable for me, doesn’t need constant A/C running to stay cool, and has more storage (which makes no sense, but there it is). I haven’t taken “official” apartment photos so here is some of Sonny exploring the apartment.
As for reading: my goal this year was to read 104 books. This is unlikely to happen, but a goal I’m still working towards. When I’m sick, I don’t want to do much of anything so I didn’t read much for at least three months. Some of what I did finish was The Broken Earth Trilogy by N.K Jemisin (loved it), finished my second Robin Sloane Book Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore (meh), and I’m almost done with all of Madeline Miller’s books with Song of Achilles read first (wow) and now completing Circe (double wow). July is starting off strong with 2 books already which is impressive considering I’ve been busy on vacation every day except three.
I have several ideas for posts and new shelfies and bookish things coming. Stay tuned fellow readers! I hope your summer reading is off to an awesome start!
